First started in 2007, Maynards Restaurant of Excelsior will again be hosting ICA Day. On Monday, November 28, spend the day at Maynards as 100% of all gross proceeds will benefit ICA.
“We got started with ICA 15 years ago,” explains Maynards owner Tom Stevens. “We’ve been partnering ever since and now we’re coming up on $300,000 donated to ICA over that time.”
As he describes it, getting involved with a community organization was an easy decision.
“We always have believed in giving back with our restaurant,” says Stevens. “It just seems to make sense. The more we give, the more we receive. It always seems to work that way every time.”
Stevens adds that ICA stood out as an ideal organization to support, since they hold so much equity in the community.
“ICA Food Shelf seems like a real special part of the community,” he explains. “It’s great for the whole western suburbs.”
With the event going strong for over a decade, many Maynards customers make it a priority to attend ICA Day and give back every year.
“It’s a Monday that a lot of people point toward,” he explains. “It’s a fun night. We have a good time with it and it’s a special night every year.”
While Stevens and the Maynards team are focused on this year’s event, the hope is that ICA Day will be around for quite some time.
“Another 15 years and donate over half a million,” he says. “That’d be great.”
