Food Insecurity in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, Greenwood, and Woodland
It’s February. We are almost a year into the pandemic, and the effects are all too real on the well-being of our neighbors.
The pandemic has worsened economic conditions for many of those already struggling. Unfortunately we're realized families who were on the edge before the pandemic are now struggling every month, and need our services more than ever.
We have also found that many families are experiencing food insecurity for the first time. They’re finding that after paying bills, they can’t quite purchase enough food to feed their entire family sufficient quantities of nutritious foods to meet their needs.
We’re hearing from some neighbors that they've postponed a visit to ICA because they think others have a greater need than themselves. Because of the generous ongoing response from our community, ICA has enough food to feed everyone who needs help. If you know someone who needs help with food resources, please have them call ICA to make an appointment: 952.938.0729.
Please help us spread the word: ICA is here to help. Neighbors can visit us even one time, just to bridge the gap.
Thank you for your partnership in helping our neighbors!
P.S. Curious to learn more about what food insecurity looks like? New York Times Magazine published an article this fall where they shared stories of food insecurity from across the United States .Read it here.
