All Donations Now Have Double the Impact!
It is with full hearts that we announce a $50,000 match! Thanks to the collaboration of several ICA supporters, starting this week, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000!
During “normal” operations over 50% of our food comes from local grocery stores through food rescue. We pick up food from our local partners daily; thousands of pounds per day. Due to the coronavirus, our food rescue has been very inconsistent and on some days, has been down as much as 2/3. And the need has already increased; in just one week, the number of emergency bags that we distributed doubled.
Your donations enable us to procure food to make up the difference. Most of the food that we are getting right now comes from Second Harvest. Some of the food is free thanks to government programs. Other food we purchase from them. While the prices we receive from Second Harvest and other sources enable us to buy food at a much lower price than you can in a grocery store, we still have to buy this food and pay costs associated with shipping and handling it. Your donations enable us to do so. When you give to ICA, your donation stays in our community and puts food on the tables of your neighbors.
And your donations go further! With your $1 donation, we are able to purchase up to $10 of food from food banks -- with this match, your $1 becomes $20 in food.
